How To Print From A Chromebook

If you’re looking on how to install and use a printer with your Chromebook, you came to the right place. Even though it should be simple, it isn’t and there are a few steps you need to follow. Here it goes!

Before beginning, you should know that you cannot connect the Chromebook to the printer through a USB cable and expect for it to work. You also have to consider that the Chrome OS won’t allow you to install any drivers and that the Chromebooks can’t find other devices through a wireless connection and this is why it won’t find your printer either.

Pretty impossible so far, right? But happily, it isn’t. You will be able to connect your Chromebook to a non-cloud printer through Google Cloud Print –

This service will transform your classic printer into an internet-connected and cloud-ready printer.

Special Requirements

To get your printer working with a Chromebook, you need to make sure that your printer is being installed and ready to be used with a computer that works on a different OS than Chrome OS – Mac, Windows, Linux. Make a test print to make sure your printer is ready and if it is, go further. Also, make sure that you have Google Chrome installed on your PC.

How to Cloudify Your Printer

Now, let’s get your printer connected to the cloud:

To connect your printer to the cloud launch Google Chrome and insert the patch chrome://devices and press the return key. Click on Add printers below Classic printers. You will be asked to sign-in with your Google account and after doing so, you will be provided with a list for printers to register; here, click on the Add printer button.

The next message you’ll see will announce you that you have successfully enabled Google Cloud Print on your device.

You can access some more Settings and fight out more from the Manage your printers link.
